Requesting use of Title I Funds from your school to cover registration

Here are some sample questions and responses to support you in asking for Title I funds.

1. How will this training increase staff effectiveness? What is your measurable evidence?

  • The conference sessions will equip teachers with practical strategies for creating more equitable, culturally responsive music curricula. This directly addresses a key challenge in Title I schools – ensuring all students, regardless of background, can access and thrive in music education.
  • Research shows that when teachers implement social-emotional learning and culturally responsive , it leads to improved student engagement, behavior, and academic outcomes. This conference will provide tangible methods for weaving these approaches into daily instruction.
  • Teachers will gain skills in accessing supplementary funding sources like grants and community partnerships. This allows them to expand their music program offerings and resources, increasing their overall effectiveness.
  • As a measurable outcome, we expect teachers to report feeling more empowered, supported, and equipped to meet the unique needs of their Title I students.

2. What is the anticipated impact on student achievement? (Data, Measurable growth, expected outcomes?)

  • Implementing the culturally responsive and social-emotional techniques learned at the conference has been shown to boost student engagement and intrinsic motivation in music. This translates to higher participation rates, improved attendance, and better academic performance overall.
  • Schools that have implemented similar conference strategies have documented clear gains in student proficiency on music assessments, as well as increased enrollment in school music programs.
  • By strengthening family/community connections and providing more equitable access to quality music education, we anticipate seeing improvements in indicators like graduation rates and post-secondary enrollment for Title I students engaged in music.

3. How will you disseminate information back to your school?

  • Attendees will receive comprehensive session materials and resources to bring back and share with their full music department and school administration.
  • We will facilitate group discussions and planning sessions during the conference, allowing teachers to collaborate on strategies for implementing their learnings schoolwide.
  • Attendees will be encouraged to present key takeaways at staff meetings, PD sessions, and department gatherings, ensuring the entire school community benefits from the conference.
  • Ongoing online forums and support networks will be available for conference alumni to continue sharing best practices and problem-solving challenges.
